God is Able to Make Grace Abound to You

2 Corinthians 9:8 – “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”

Never limit God’s ability to work in and through you for His glory. God is able to make ALL grace abound to you.

Abounding grace does not come as a trickle, or a sprinkle, or a dribble, or a drip. It comes as a downpour. It’s more like a mighty rushing waterfall than a lightly falling drizzle of rain. Abounding grace is a deluge.

Oh, to be filled with the fullness of God!

God is not limited by our abilities. We are weak, but He is strong. He empowers weak people to do extraordinary things for the praise of His glory so that in all things, at all times, having all that we need in Christ, we may abound in every good work.

Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” (John 7:38).

God, help us to think more of your power than our weakness. Help us fix our eyes on you: your might, your strength, your ability, your promises, and your abounding grace for every sinner in need.

Ray Ortlund, Jr. has shared this quote from his father the last two Sundays, and it is quickly becoming a favorite quote of mine:

“Jesus wants to express his fullness through you. Always begin your thinking and your planning and your deciding from the standpoint of Jesus’ fullness in your life. Always begin with the plenty of God. Face life with all you have in Christ. Never face life from the standpoint of all the problems and all the needs and all the difficulties. Always begin with your standing in Christ. You have rivers of living water, Christ in you, fullness of grace and truth. That’s what Jesus gives us!”

Fullness in Christ! Christ in you, the hope of glory! Abounding grace!

  1. So true. If I account only for my own ability, I am still presuming upon His providence in doing so. Let us realize that He lovingly motivates and gently coaxes us in the fulfillment of His purpose. We add so little, yet so critically, to the work He is doing — by His grace and according to His will.

    Thanks, Pastor Craig!
